Your saving up period will have its starting point at Tvind School Centre. Lateron in the Spring we will start looking for jobs in other school centres around Denmark (our sister schools) and also start building enterprises.

Tvind School Centre in West Jutland, Denmark is a point for gathering.

We are around 150 people living here: students with special needs, adults with different problems, youngsters studying 10^th Grade and A-levels,  a practical group taking care of forest and park in Tvind.

Our International Teacher Training College “DNS” is the biggest unit in people – there are at this moment 69 people enrolled. They come from 20 different countries in Europe .

The teachers in Tvind is also an international group  - we come from Denmark , Sweden , Germany , China and Malawi .

We are running a school centre with these units:

* DNS Teacher training college (DNS = Det Nødvendige Seminarium – in English The Necessary Teacher Training College)

* PTG Youth College (PTG = Praktisk Teoretisk Grunduddannelse – in English Practical Theoretical Basic Education)

* D.I.E. Den International Efterskole – in English The International Continuation School which is a carehome for our junior students

* The Dayschool – where youngsters from PTG and 2 care homes in the nearby town go to classes

* The Care home Casablanca for 6 youngsters with special needs

* The Care home Apollo for 8 teenagers with special needs

* The Villas – 4 houses made cosy for our permanent residents at Tvind – 8 adults with special needs

* The Development Instructor Unit – 3 people preparing themselves for volunteer work in Malawi and Mozambique

* Tvindkraft – our 54 meter windmill supplying 90% of all the energy we need in the school centre – green energy!

* The Promotion Centre – where around 3 people work full time to find new students 

Garden Farming

We have a vision to make our school centre 80% self sustainable with ecologic vegetables from our garden. We have started and the harvest this year gave around 4 tons of potatoes and maybe a ton of other good vegetables.

This only give 10% of our vegetable consumption.

But we have more land!

We need a team of dedicated and passionate garden farmers. In the time we live in, we can not do enough to try to stop the global warming and act locally in our communities. We must reduce our carbon footprint in the atmosphere. We must show examples and teach people bout our results and learn from fellow green activists.

We started in Tvind in 1975 by building (at that time) one of the world´s largest wind power turbines “Tvindkraft” and we continue today with a sustainable Tvind.
