Sara´s saving up experiencesAfter two weeks I got a job, a really nice one, helping in 2 care homes where difficult youngsters, different ages and problems, are living. It makes me happy because this is something I’ve always want to do in my life but I could because I don’t have any education or recognised experience.
Hello everybody, I’m Sara from Italy.
Here we are, in Tvind, saving up to start finally and officially in August a new education, a new adventure and a new life which is, anyway, already start for me since last January, when I arrived here.
The first impression when I've arrive was totally positive, even to positive to be real, definitely too honest to be real! :-)Maybe is because the country where I'm coming from or maybe is for the world where I came from ,but I've found difficult most of the times trust people around me, in particularly who is doing so much to help around without to think about money! Money, this horrible issue which is destroying our lives, our families and our real pleasure. We don t have this problem here, the economy is in common and people can easily think about what they can do and don t loose time thinking in what they can get.
Money was a issue also for me when I came because I didn't have so many but I really wanted to be part of DNS. After two weeks I got a job, a really nice one, helping in 2 care homes where difficult youngsters with different ages and problems are living. It makes me happy because this is something I've always want to do in my life but I could because I don’t have any education or recognised experience.
Of course my principal tasks are not the main pedagogic one, but I spend a lot of times with the student taking care about the practical job like cooking with the them ,cleaning when they have to clean, driving them to the school or just be around and willing to help. It was really hard at the begin because believe me there is a huge different between to clean or cooking by your self than to cook with a teenager who think food is just what s made in McDonald and who does t know even how to make a tea, or teach them that to clean the bedroom doesn’t mean to hide everything in the wardrobe:-)
Right know I can say I' m improving my patience a lot with this kids, I m teaching them all what I know and I believe is good, there for I'm really careful to don t do anything I wouldn’t' t like they do. This job is a great opportunity to make me conscious about the bad but also the good point about my self.
We have also a lot of fun whit this kids ,when we're playing games, when we're doing sport ,when we're singing or just when they are trying to teach me Danish ( I' m really bad they say, but they are good teachers).I wish I would have a nice environment around me in my adolescence like what the have here.
I m taking part also at the weekly meeting with all of the stuff including the head master where I can came out with new idea or simply with my opinion. Of course there are problem sometimes, small and big, but is a good gratification to get over them with the help from colleague with a lot of experience and knowledge. They are teaching me how to have a professional funny time. :-)
I've also pass some hard time and made a lot of mistake since when I'm here but nobody judges me for this and every day I’m becoming more confident more professional and more happy about what I'm doing. Is also good to make a mistake as long you learn something out of it, learning by doing.
Well, I think I could write a book about what else I’m doing here but it would t fix here, so the last thing I want to tell to you if you are thinking to come, make sure your heart is open and ready to give everything it is inside and to learn a lot out of it.
I promise you!
See you here!
